ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEERSUMMARY: This position is responsible for the design of a wide range of magnetic products with minimal supervision. It is responsible for the electrical research, development and launch of new transformer, inductor and magnetic assembly products. Persons will resolve product-related problems on existing designs and help Pulse maintain superiority in technology, price, quality and time to market within the constraints of available resources. SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES: • Designs and develops new products and optimizes or redesigns existing products as required. This includes product research, evaluation of deign options, detailed design and full development of cost effective solutions. • Plans and coordinates all aspects of a variety of design activities from conceptualization to product release with schedule responsibilities, as well as responsibilities for follow-on cost and quality performance. • Reviews specifications provided by OEM customers, and through direct customer interface, assists in reaching product design objectives. • Participate in product cost reduction analysis. • Assists manufacturing, quality and marketing in matters related to specifications, assembly, testing, reliability and packaging. • Creates, revises, supports and maintains product design, testing, and procedural documentation. • Evaluate vendor parts or materials quality and performance • Participates in cross-functional product development teams. • Actively participates in team meetings, group problem solving, process development, and customer feedback and data collection. • Evaluates competitive products in areas of design, quality and performance. • Represents Engineering department during visits to customers or at trade shows. • Provides detailed oral or written technical assistance to customers • Performs all job responsibilities with a commitment to high quality, and low cost results. • Other duties as assigned EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE: Position requires knowledge of transformer simulation tools, knowledge of design requirements for a variety of transformer/inductor topologies, the ability to create transformer/inductor designs from specific performance specifications, and knowledge of magnetic theory. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, general knowledge of magnetic component design, working knowledge of power supply design or functionality and general knowledge of ISO/AS standards along with AutoCAD / electronic simulation software. The minimum education for all positions is a Bachelorīs degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, with a Masterīs degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
